According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on Monday, police held a review committee meeting on disclosure of personal information that afternoon and voted to release the suspect's identifying details.
The committee found that the gravity of the harm and the cruelty of the means used in the crime were established, and that there was sufficient evidence to prove the offense. It also took into account that disclosure was necessary for the public interest, including preventing recidivism and deterring crime.
Unless Kim files a separate objection, his personal information will be posted on the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency website for 30 days starting at around 6 p.m. that day. Police plan to refer the case to the prosecution service on the 20th.
