Buddhist nuns perform the Cheonsubara dance, a ritual dance, at the Jingwansa State Water-Land Rite held in front of the main hall of Jingwansa Temple in Seoul's Eunpyeong District on the 25th. The rite, designated as a National Intangible Heritage, was held under the theme "The Whole World Is One Family — Harmony and World Peace," offering consolation to victims of war and disaster and praying for harmony and peace transcending religion, ideology and nationality. The state-sponsored rite, which began in the sixth year of King Taejo's reign in the Joseon Dynasty, is a Buddhist ceremony that consoles and guides both the living and the dead without discrimination. It was designated a National Intangible Heritage in 2013. Photo courtesy of Jingwansa Temple, Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. Oct. 25, 2026.
