Historic Jeddah Marks International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage
Historic Jeddah is marking the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage, observed annually on October 17, by showcasing the traditional arts, crafts, and social practices passed down through generations that have shaped the area's cultural identity.
The district's intangible heritage includes oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals and festive events, traditional knowledge, and craftsmanship, reflecting its centuries-old role as a crossroads of cultures.
The celebration is part of the Ministry of Culture's project to revive Historic Jeddah, which aims to safeguard the area's tangible and intangible heritage and establish it as a hub for culture and creativity and a global heritage destination, in line with the National Culture Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
