Ondo State Governor,. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has renamed the International Centre for Culture and Events, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure, after former Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
The facility will henceforth be known as the Dr. Olusegun Mimiko International Centre for Culture and Events, in recognition of the former governor who constructed it during his administration.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa announced the renaming on Saturday, at a birthday celebration organised in honour of Mimiko in Abuja.
“The facility would now officially bear the former governor’s name,” the statement read.
Mimiko governed the state from 2009 to 2017, during which the cultural and events centre was built.
The renaming places the former governor’s name on the facility, which was established during his tenure as part of the state’s infrastructure for cultural activities and public events.
The statement confirmed that the International Centre for Culture and Events in Akure would henceforth be called the Dr. Olusegun Mimiko International Centre for Culture and Events.
