If there is one key takeaway from this fashion month it’s that 2027 is destined to be the year of the skirt. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have asked us all to pause on wearing trousers and dresses for the foreseeable, as the spring/summer 2027 Prada collection featured 63 looks that all centred around a skirt. What Miuccia says always carries weight, and the street style crowd are already responding to her no-trousers directive.
Our Favorite Pencil Skirt and Pump Combos:
Although the street style galleries feature many different skirt trends, from fall florals to colour-pop midis, if we had to declare one outfit as the uniform of the spring/summer 2027 show circuit it would be a column pencil skirt paired with pointed pumps.

Although you’d be forgiven for thinking there is something rather Apprentice about a suit skirt and court shoes, there is a softness to the styling that stops it being too severe or corporate. Jeanne Damas, for example, wore a pair of black glossy slingbacks with a black tailored skirt, which provided a polished base to her otherwise relaxed weekend staples (she wore a shirt with rolled-up sleeves under a striped jumper and a pair of aviators).

The likes of Bottega Veneta, The Row, and Prada have modernised the pencil skirt for 2026, moving away from rigid, tight fits and presenting a more relaxed silhouette that is in keeping with the recent soft power styling mood. Traditional suiting is loosened with oversized silhouettes, fluid fabrications and styling that is elevated, but never too formal. Pumps with a pointed toe might give the impression that you are an inbox zero, black coffee with an extra shot kind of person, however adding a T-shirt, bomber jacket or track jacket adds some Type B energy to make it look a little less 5 a.m. club.

To make your pencil skirt look more street style in 2026, swap a blazer for a bomber, a laptop bag bag for a neat top-handle bag and a silk blouse for a crew-neck jumper. Keep scrolling to shop the skirt and shoe pairing that was the uniform this fashion month.
