Tajik chess player Murodali Sayfiyev has won a bronze medal in blitz at the 20th Asian Schools Chess Championship, held in Tula, Russia, from October 1 to 11.
The tournament brought together 318 young chess players from 12 countries, including Tajikistan, Russia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.
Tajikistan was represented by five players: Umar Okhunov, Bogdan Voskolovich, Yosuman Khojayeva, Murodali Sayfiyev and Zakariyo Yusupov. Mirzo Mahmoudzoda headed the country’s delegation.
Sayfiyev secured third place in the blitz competition, earning a bronze medal for Tajikistan.

“This is an important international achievement for a young chess player. Before the competition, we noted that matches against opponents from different countries would give our team an opportunity to assess its level and gain valuable competitive experience. Now, one of our five representatives is returning with an Asian medal,” said Ilhom Yunusov, secretary general of the Chess Federation of Tajikistan.
The championship featured competitions across several age categories and disciplines, providing young Tajik chess players with experience at the continental level.
