UAE weather forecast predicts afternoon showers in parts of the country, with humid mornings and a chance of fog
UAE weather is set to remain changeable this week, with rain forecast in parts of the country from Sunday to Thursday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Showers are expected mainly in eastern areas on Sunday afternoon, before potentially spreading to some inland and western parts of the country between Monday and Wednesday. On Thursday, the chance of rainfall is expected to shift towards western areas.
The forecast comes after several days of rainfall across parts of the UAE.
UAE weather forecast from Sunday to Thursday
Sunday, October 18, will see fair to partly cloudy skies, with clouds potentially developing over eastern areas during the afternoon and bringing rain. Humidity is expected to increase overnight and into the morning, with a chance of fog or mist in some coastal and inland areas.
On Monday, October 19, afternoon showers may extend beyond the eastern regions to some inland and western areas. Similar conditions are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, with cloud development potentially bringing further rainfall.
By Thursday, October 22, convective cloud formation is expected to shift towards western areas, where afternoon showers are possible.
Despite the chance of rain, much of the country is expected to experience fair to partly cloudy skies throughout the week.
Winds could reach 50km/h
Winds are expected to remain light to moderate for much of the week, at speeds of 10 to 25km/h. However, they could strengthen to 50km/h at times, particularly during periods of cloud activity.
The stronger winds may cause blowing dust in affected areas.
Wind direction is forecast to change from southeasterly to northwesterly on several days, although conditions may vary as the week progresses.
The Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to remain slight throughout the forecast period.
Temperature in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
On Sunday, temperatures are forecast to reach 35°C in Dubai and 37°C in Abu Dhabi, with a low of 27°C in both emirates. The highest temperature recorded across the UAE on Saturday was 41.6°C in Sweihan, Al Ain, at 2.30pm.
