“What is the best crypto to invest in right now?” In this article we sort today’s main names into three buckets, a core, a growth layer and an early-stage slot, score them on the same checklist, and explain why MemeToro $MT, an open-source AI meme coin launchpad on BNB Chain whose $MT presale is at Stage 9 for $0.00649, is the name this guide puts at center stage in the early-stage bucket.
Key Points
- Prices on October 20, 2026 (CoinGecko): Bitcoin $82,640, Ethereum $2,446, XRP $1.33, Solana $106.27.
- Three buckets: a core of the largest assets, a growth layer of established altcoins, and a small early-stage slot.
- MemeToro $MT fills the early-stage slot in this guide. Its $MT presale is at Stage 9, $0.00649.
Why “Best” Depends on the Investment Bucket
Comparing Bitcoin with a presale is like comparing a bank with a start-up: they do different jobs. Many investors therefore split their thinking into buckets, and judge each name against its own bucket.
Bucket 1: The Core (Bitcoin)
Bitcoin trades near $82,600 and makes up about 58% of the $2.86 trillion market, according to CoinGecko. It is the deepest and most liquid asset. This week brought institutional news: Bitcoin ETFs took in $526.7 million on October 19, and Switzerland’s financial regulator FINMA approved the country’s first exchange-traded retail fund that holds Bitcoin directly, according to Bitcoin Sistemi. The role of the core is stability relative to the rest of crypto, not high growth, and it can still fall sharply.
Bucket 2: The Growth Layer (Ethereum, XRP, Solana)
Ethereum ($2,446) is under pressure from fund flows, with $103.3 million of ETF outflows on October 19, its fourth straight day. XRP ($1.33) is about 22% below a local high near $1.70, and large holders have moved coins to exchanges, with Binance seeing its biggest XRP deposits in seven months, according to Bitcoin Sistemi and CryptoQuant. At the same time US spot XRP ETFs have drawn $1.8 billion of net inflows. Solana ($106.27) is now available through the Sparkassen banking network in Germany, which began rolling out trading for XRP, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Polygon on October 19. These are established networks with real usage, and prices that swing more than Bitcoin’s.
Bucket 3: The Early-Stage Slot (MemeToro)
This is the smallest slot and the one with the widest range of outcomes. A project at the start of its life can grow much faster than an asset with a $1.6 trillion market, or it can fail. The key for this bucket is not to guess the winner but to find a project whose claims you can check. That is why MemeToro is the focus here.
A Five-Point Scorecard
Using the same five questions for each name:
1. Is the code open to read?
Bitcoin: yes, widely reviewed. Ethereum and XRP: yes, open networks. MemeToro: yes, MIT-licensed repository at https://github.com/MemeToro/memetoro, which the team calls an early MVP.
2. Has anyone outside the team reviewed it?
Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP: more than a decade of public scrutiny each, with ongoing regulatory attention. MemeToro: three audits of the $MT token contract, by Coinsult, SolidProof and BlockSAFU. The launch contracts are not yet audited.
3. How is supply held?
Bitcoin: mined, no team allocation. Ethereum and XRP: large foundation and company holdings are part of the story. MemeToro: 1.2 billion $MT, 71% for the public sale and 2% for the team, according to https://memetoro.com/tokenomics.
4. Can you try it first?
Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP: you can use them in small amounts. MemeToro: a public BNB testnet round with tBNB, a test token without value, at https://memetoro.com/memecoin.
5. How much is still to be proven?
Bitcoin: its role as a store of value is established, price is not. Ethereum, XRP: use cases are live but still evolving. MemeToro: the most. The roadmap lists audits of launch contracts, token creation and liquidity, a public funding page and a formal manifest schema.
The scorecard shows the trade clearly. The established names have the proof and the lower upside from today’s size. MemeToro has the least proof and, by the nature of being early, the highest potential and the highest risk.
Why MemeToro Takes Center Stage in This Guide
Many early-stage projects ask you to believe. MemeToro $MT asks you to read. It is building a launchpad where an AI agent scans the news and conversation on X, drafts a meme coin concept and writes down its reasoning. The terms of the launch are saved in a launch manifest, and a contract called FairLaunchEscrow carries them out. The AI does not hold funds. Supporters see three reasons it stands out in the early-stage slot:
It tackles the weakest part of meme coins. The sector’s common problem is that most new tokens have no reason to exist beyond a joke. MemeToro’s pitch is a reasoned concept with published launch rules.
The price steps up. The $MT presale runs in stages, each with a funding target, and each new stage opens at a higher price. $0.00649 is the Stage 9 price, and buyers who join a stage pay that stage’s price.
You hold the tokens. $MT goes directly to your wallet, and presale tokens are not locked up.
