There's an interesting deal on Steam for LEGO fans right now: LEGO® The Incredibles lets players relive the adventures of the famous superhero family from Pixar's The Incredibles and has just dropped to a historic low price. According to SteamDB, the game is currently receiving its first-ever 95% discount, bringing the price down from around $40 to just $2. The offer runs until October 22.
The game covers the stories of both Pixar movies, The Incredibles and Incredibles 2, and wraps them in the familiar LEGO formula: beating up enemies, smashing objects, solving puzzles and collecting tons of bricks. The entire Parr superhero family is playable from the start – including mother Helen, aka Elastigirl, who can stretch her body at will, father Bob, aka Mr. Incredible, with his superhuman strength, and their two children, Violet and Dash, who can turn invisible and race through the game world at incredible speeds, respectively.
Beyond the story missions, there's an open world filled with side activities, hidden collectibles and unlockable characters. In the city of Municiberg, players can fight crime, complete smaller challenges and solve puzzles that require different superpowers. In total, more than 100 playable characters are available, although many of them aren't familiar faces from the movies. Players can also create and customize their own superheroes. Those who don't want to take on supervillains alone can tackle the adventure with a friend in local co-op.

LEGO The Incredibles received a rather lukewarm reception from professional critics. On Metacritic, the game scores between 65 and 74 out of 100, depending on the platform. French Jeuxvideo.com (65/100) criticized the repetitive gameplay but praised the characters' different abilities and the co-op mode. Nintendo Life (70/100) pointed to a relatively weak character roster, featuring plenty of characters but few particularly original ones, as well as technical issues such as frame rate drops and long loading times. On the positive side, the publication highlighted the open world and its numerous side activities. German GameStar (79/100) was somewhat more favorable, describing The Incredibles as an enjoyable LEGO adventure, provided players don't expect any major innovations.
Steam players seem less bothered by these shortcomings: 90% of the nearly 2,600 reviews are positive. Incidentally, the game is also playable on the Steam Deck. Anyone who enjoys Pixar's superhero movies and has a soft spot for LEGO games probably can't go too far wrong with this one.

As a child in the 90s, my Gameboy was my steady companion. After school, the PlayStation was fired up. When I finally got my first PC, I was completely hooked. My passion for gaming has never waned since. For me, writing for Notebookcheck means reporting on topics that are really close to my heart - in addition to gaming, I also like to write about e-mobility, photovoltaics and innovative gadgets. When I'm not sitting at my computer, I'm probably on water rescue duty on the Baltic coast or trying to counteract the downsides of my geek life - namely sitting for long periods - at the local swimming pool.
