Athena Technology Solutions, a US company specialising in industrial production execution systems, has established its first European office in Porto, which will serve as the base for its expansion across the continent.
The Portuguese operation will initially employ six people, with plans to increase the workforce to 20 during the first year and eventually reach 100 employees within five years, according to Executive Digest.
European expansion
Headquartered in Fremont, California, Athena will manage its European commercial activities, project operations and customer support services from its new office in Porto.
The company is already expanding its activities across several European markets and hopes to secure at least five clients by December, when its fiscal year ends.
Porto as the foundation
“In Porto we found the talent to get started quickly, a technological ecosystem suited to the industries we work with, and our partners nearby. This is where our European operation begins and from where it will be managed,” said Senthil Ranganathan, founder and CEO of Athena Technology Solutions.
Porto was selected due to its skilled workforce, accessibility to other European markets and proximity to the company’s technology partners.
Athena views Porto as the foundation of its European expansion and is also considering establishing a satellite office in Germany as its operations develop.
