The event takes place on Wednesday, 14 October, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Biblioteca Municipal Manuel Teixeira Gomes. Clinical psychologist Marina Carvalho will lead the discussion, which is titled “How to deal with fears and anxiety in childhood and adolescence?”
This session forms part of the Portimão Municipality's "Educar para um Melhor Futuro" programme for the 2026/2027 school year; the initiative gathers families and education professionals together to talk about the matters that affect children and young people, there being sessions scheduled on topics such as development, emotional health, education and career guidance.
Practical guidance
Tomorrow’s discussion will look at the difference between anxiety that is a normal part of growing up and signs that may need closer attention. It will also share practical guidance for adults supporting children and teenagers as they deal with fears and worries.
The municipality says participation is free, but advance registration is required, and places are limited. The session is aimed at parents and guardians, teachers, and specialist staff.
