CoreWeave, an AI-cloud company backed by Nvidia, is reportedly facing a financial crisis due to a significant increase in debt, according to a social media post by @CHItrader. The company, led by CEO Mike Intrator, has been expanding its data centers through debt financing, accruing approximately $35.6 billion in debt alongside $16.3 billion in operating-lease liabilities. Despite holding a substantial customer backlog valued at $104 billion, CoreWeave remains unprofitable, with net losses of $1.4 billion reported in the first half of the year. The market has reacted to these developments with caution, as evidenced by the rising yields on the company’s 2031 bonds and increased credit-default swap costs.
Key Takeaways

- Market pricing implies a growing concern among participants about CoreWeave’s ability to convert its backlog into cash to service its debt.
- Recent market movement suggests increased skepticism around the company’s financial health, with sub-market odds for a bankruptcy announcement fluctuating.
