The Balochistan Assembly on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution seeking the extension of the Jinnah Train Service from Kuchlak to Yaro Railway Station and the construction of a new 12-kilometre railway track from Yaro to Pishin.
The move aims to provide affordable and reliable transport to residents of Pishin division.
The session was chaired by Speaker Captain (retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai.
Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam MPA Syed Zafar Agha moved the resolution, saying the Jinnah People’s Train Service between Quetta and Kuchlak had given citizens an affordable and safe travel option.
He said Pishin division is densely populated, with large numbers of students, employees, patients and other residents travelling to Quetta daily for education, jobs, medical treatment and business.
He added that the lack of convenient and timely transport had created difficulties for commuters.
The resolution urged the provincial government to approach the Ministry of Railways to extend the train service from Kuchlak to Yaro Railway Station and lay a 12-kilometre track from Yaro to Pishin.
The proposal was approved unanimously.
During the session, Jamaat-i-Islami MPA Hidayatur Rehman Baloch submitted a call-attention notice on financial assistance and subsidies for livestock farmers. The notice was disposed of after an assurance from the concerned parliamentary secretary.
