The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has rescued a 13-year-old girl in Karachi who was allegedly targeted by an online network, following a tip-off from an international intelligence agency.
According to the NCCIA director, a group allegedly linked to the dark web was assigning dangerous tasks to the girl. As part of her first task, she was instructed to poison a cat and kill it.
For the second task, the girl was reportedly ordered to inflict serious harm on herself. However, the NCCIA team reached her before she could complete the task and informed her parents about the situation.
The agency said the girl’s parents were unaware of her online activities and the dangerous tasks she had been receiving.
Meanwhile, investigators are tracing the accounts that contacted the girl to identify those behind the network. The NCCIA is also investigating whether the group has targeted other children in Pakistan.
The rescue has raised concerns about the use of online platforms and hidden networks to manipulate children into carrying out harmful activities. The investigation is ongoing, and further details about the suspects have not yet been disclosed.
