You might think that a little black dress, one of womenswear’s greatest workhorses, can only go so far, best served as the canvas for more exciting accessories. But yesterday, Kim Kardashian made the case that the LBD can be a statement piece all by itself.
Kardashian stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Los Angeles where she wore a sculptural black maxi dress. The body-skimming scoop neck looked like something straight from Skims, save for the structural upturned peplum that jutted out from Kardashian’s hips. She kept the rest of the look sparse, only accessorizing with a pair of strappy black sandals, allowing for undivided attention to rest on her sculptural, razor thin peplum.

A simple, body-conscious piece with one unusual element is straight from the Kim Kardashian playbook, and a hallmark of her recent WAG style. At the start of Paris Fashion Week last month, Kardashian wore a white Ludovic de Saint Sernin dress with a knotted halter neck for a meeting with Christian Louboutin; at the Monaco Grand Prix she hit the paddock in a draped ecru dress with asymmetrical sleeves; and at the Singapore Grand Prix last week, she opted for a pink semi-sheer Alaïa number.
