Michal Postava is being called up by the Detroit Red Wings to join them on their West Coast trip
Grand Rapids coach Dan Watson announced the news after the Grand Rapids Griffins downed the Manitoba Moose 4-3 Wednesday Night at Van Andel Arena.
Watson didn’t provide any details about why Postava is being recalled. He said the call-up is the reason why the Griffins signed former Michigan Tech and minor league goalie Jamie Phillips, 33, to a PTO to be their backup goalie against the Moose.
Postava is joining the Red Wings before tonight’s game in Vancouver.

Postava, 24, signed out the Czech league after the 2025-26 season, was a dominant AHL performer last season (17-6, 1.71 GAA) and started this season with a 4-0 record, 1.25 goals-against average and .954 save percentage.
Before signing with the Red Wings, he took his Brno Kometa team in a Czech League championship.
Postava’s development was a reason why the Red Wings were comfortable dealing 2021 first round pick Sebastian Cossa to Utah Mammoth. Cossa is the team’s backup goalie.
