BUTTERWORTH: A 10-month-old boy who was found weak at his babysitter's home died from head injuries consistent with blunt force trauma, police said
Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Abdul Rahman said doctors could not determine whether the injuries were caused by an accident or another person's actions.
"The medical findings could not establish the number of impacts, the object used or the exact time the injuries occurred.
"The medical findings showed that the victim died from head injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. Doctors also confirmed that the injuries could have been fatal," he said when contacted.
The baby was reportedly in good health when his mother sent him to the babysitter's home at about 5.40am on Monday.
He was later found weak. The babysitter sought her husband's help to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before the baby was taken to Sungai Dua Health Clinic for further treatment.
However, the baby was believed to have died before reaching the clinic.
The babysitter was remanded for a week yesterday to assist in the investigation.
