A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, Olorogun John Oguma, has urged Deltans across party lines to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s re-election bid in 2027, saying his performance in office warrants a second term.
Oguma made the call on Sunday while speaking with journalists, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Delta State Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon.
He said Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda had driven development across the state, from Asaba to the riverine communities.
Describing the governor as a man of his word, Oguma said, “Oborevwori is a man of his word. He promised MORE and he is giving us MORE. From Warri to Asaba, Ughelli to Agbor, you can see work going on. This is a Governor that understands the pains of the people.”
Citing developments in the health sector, Oguma said Delta now had magnetic resonance imaging machines in its three senatorial districts, namely Asaba, Warri and Oghara.
He also listed computed tomography scans, radiology laboratories and dialysis machines among the medical facilities available in the state, adding that more than 150 primary healthcare centres had been renovated.
Oguma further claimed that Delta had recently received a $400,000 grant from the Gates Foundation and that more than three million residents were enrolled in the state’s health insurance scheme.
On infrastructure, he cited the ongoing flyover projects in Effurun and Warri, the Orere Bridge project, the completed Ughelli-Asaba road dualisation and other completed and ongoing road projects across the state’s 25 local government areas.
He said the projects had contributed to the changing appearance of Warri and other parts of the state.
The APC chieftain described Oborevwori as a pan-Delta governor who did not discriminate against residents on the basis of ethnicity or political affiliation. He also praised the governor’s humility, accessibility and religious disposition.
Calling for continuity in governance, Oguma said Deltans should support Oborevwori’s re-election rather than risk reversing the progress he said the state had made.
“In 2027, we will not experiment. We will not go backward. We need continuity. We need Sheriff Oborevwori to finish what he started. I am calling on all Urhobos, Itsekiris, Ijaws, Isokos and Aniomas to support him 100%,” he said.
He urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and mobilise support for the governor across polling units ahead of the election.
“Delta is working, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is working. Let us work for him,” Oguma added.
