When Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife Lucy "Lulu" Muteke were laid to rest on Thursday, October 8, 2026, the eyes of thousands followed them to their final destination: Sahwira Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare, a burial ground as striking as the lives the couple led.

The pair died alongside four others in a helicopter crash in Marondera on September 30, 2026.
Their send-off was nothing short of spectacular. Chivayo's coffin was designed to resemble a Rolls-Royce and bore the inscription "WMC 777," draped in the Zimbabwean national flag, while Lucy's casket carried a Mercedes-Benz-inspired design labelled "LULU."
Thousands of mourners gathered at Chivayo's family home in Gletwin ahead of the burial, with business leaders, politicians and prominent figures travelling from across Zimbabwe and parts of East and Southern Africa to pay their respects.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa reportedly designated Chivayo a provincial hero in recognition of his philanthropy and contributions to the economy.
Inside the Royal Graves section
The couple was interred in what is known as the Royal Graves section, a premium hilltop area of the park that has attracted considerable attention since the burial.
Their graves feature an all-granite stone design, and the elevated position of the plots gives the site a commanding visual presence.
The section is also where Chivayo's late mother was previously buried, making it a deeply personal choice for the family.
Because of the severity of the helicopter crash and the condition of the remains, the family confirmed there would be no viewing of the bodies before burial.
Formerly known as Glen Forest Cemetery, the park was reportedly acquired, modernised and rebranded by Nyaradzo Life Assurance, a company associated with funeral services in Zimbabwe.
It operates as a private memorial park rather than a conventional public cemetery, with well-maintained lawns, landscaped grounds, security arrangements, and uniform grave designs across its different sections.
The park offers a range of burial options, from standard memorial plots with uniform markers to premium hilltop plots suited for elaborate granite tombs.
Family estate arrangements, which allow relatives to be buried near one another in a designated area, are also available.
Funeral packages reportedly cover grave preparation and long-term site maintenance.

The viral video showing the park's grounds has drawn widespread curiosity about the site, with many viewers wanting a closer look at where one of Zimbabwe's most high-profile businessmen was buried.
How much debt did Chivayo have with car dealers?
TUKO.co.ke also highlighted facts about the reported KSh 662 million owed to three luxury car dealerships by the late Chivayo, as questions deepen over his estate.
A private jet reportedly left Zimbabwe weeks after his death, while a dispute over a Harare mansion could give its former owner grounds to reclaim the property.
