The Kansas City Chiefs remain unbeaten through their fifth game of the season at the weekend against the Los Angeles Chargers but something extra may be required for them before the trade deadline.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the Chiefs and a potential wide receiver acquisition. Former Chiefs star Tyreek Hill has been one of the main names spoken about as he looks for his next team following his injury return.
However, there may also be some questions as to whether Hill truly moves the needle for the Chiefs. With Kenneth Walker III essentially becoming the focal point of the Chiefs’ offence, another option at receiver may be needed to balance out that side of the ball.
With the trade deadline just a matter of weeks away, Russell Wilson has named one star wide receiver he thinks could be perfect for Andy Reid’s team.

Through their opening five games of the season, Travis Kelce is leading the receiving yards for the Chiefs with 299. Considering Kelce only racked up 15 yards in the recent game against the Las Vegas Raiders, and still leads the tally, it goes to show how much room for improvement there is.
“If I’m the Kansas City Chiefs, I got the all-star running back in the backfield, Kenneth Walker, which we’ve never had before. All these years, we’ve never had a running back like this running the ball the way he does. Guess what that does? That play action opens up. What Mahomes does better than arguably anybody in the world is throw the ball down the field,” said Wilson on CBS.
“If I’m thinking about this, who would I go get? I’m going to go get Garrett Wilson. If the Jets keep losing, I’m going to go get Garrett Wilson from the New York Football Jets because I believe that. Garrett Wilson down the field with his ability. He’s a smart guy. He learns quickly. He’d be great in an Andy Reid-style offence. Patrick Mahomes, how he gets in and out of his breaks. They haven’t had a receiver like him. He’s very smart.””
Wilson has been able to catch for 418 receiving yards in what has been a struggling New York Jets team this season. The Jets are 2-4 and up against the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots in the AFC East. Wilson is not going to enjoy any postseason football this year in New York.
At the age of 26, the opportunity to play with Patrick Mahomes would surely be too good for Wilson to pass up.
