The Braai Room and Country Meat Butchery at Lonehill shopping centre will remain closed for the rest of Sunday after a fire involving a kitchen extractor fan at The Braai Room, with smoke still lingering in the building despite the fire being extinguished.
The businesses confirmed in a Facebook post that the situation was under control and no one had been injured in the incident.
“Following a fire involving one of the kitchen extractor fans at The Braai Room earlier today, we are relieved to confirm that the fire has been extinguished, the situation is under control, and no one was injured,” the post read.
Smoke prompts closure
The Braai Room and Country Meat Butchery said they had taken the necessary safety precautions but decided to close for the remainder of the day because of the smoke inside the building.
“As there is still significant smoke in the building, The Braai Room and Country Meat Butchery will be closed for the remainder of today as a precautionary measure,” the businesses said.
They emphasised that the safety of customers and staff remained their priority while the situation was being addressed.
“The safety of our customers and team remains our highest priority, and we appreciate your understanding while we ensure that everything is properly taken care of,” the post read.
The businesses thanked customers for their patience and continued support, adding that they looked forward to welcoming them back soon.
