(ANSA) - LISBONA, 23 OTT - On Monday, October 26, the Italian Embassy in Lisbon will host writer Gianrico Carofiglio to mark the publication of the Portuguese edition of his novel “Le tre del mattino.” Organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Portugal, the ASCIP Dante Alighieri in Porto, and Piena, the Italian bookstore in Lisbon, the event is part of the program for the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World, a cultural initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation that, since 2001, has aimed to highlight the promotion of the Italian language and culture as key tools for the country’s growth, including on the international stage.
Gianrico Carofiglio, in conversation with writer Giovanni Ricciardi, will discuss the themes of the novel, now published in Portugal by Book Cover under the title “As Três da Manhã,” translated by Paolo Andreoni. The book—an unforgettable tale of illusions and regret, the passage of time, love, and talent —tells the story of an encounter that will forever change the lives of a father and son, who, due to unexpected circumstances, find themselves forced to spend two days and two nights together, getting to know each other deeply. With the sharp and precise prose that sets him apart, Carofiglio effectively captures the inner voices of the two protagonists and the setting around them: Marseille at night in the early 1980s.
