The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has convened a two-day strategic meeting with State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Executive Chairmen in Abuja to assess states’ readiness to implement the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity for Quality Basic Education (HOPE-EDU) programme.
The meeting focused on state onboarding, stakeholder engagement and sensitisation, and operational preparedness for effective programme delivery.
Presenting Benue State’s progress, the Executive Chairman of Benue SUBEB, Dr. Grace Adagba, highlighted the ₦150 million monthly school grant scheme instituted by Governor Hyacinth Alia, which provides ₦50,000 monthly to headteachers and principals to support essential school operations.
She noted that the scheme, alongside investments in infrastructure and learning materials, has improved learning environments and positioned the state favourably for HOPE-EDU implementation.
