The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has demolished parts of a bungalow in Mumbai’s Juhu area, reportedly owned by actor Ajay Devgn and his mother, Veena Devgn, days after issuing a stop-work notice over alleged unauthorised construction, officials said on Saturday.
Civic workers used hammers to demolish unauthorised Siporex block walls at the property in the JVPD Scheme area on October 12, after the K/West Ward office rejected the owners’ response to a notice issued under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act.
The civic body also released photographs showing the demolition at Kapole Co-operative Housing Society on N S Road, along with copies of the notices served on the property owners.
However, neither the BMC’s notice nor its speaking order names the Drishyam actor or his mother. Their ownership of the property was established through separate records.
An official further said the BMC issued a stop-work notice on September 10 over alleged unauthorised additions and alterations to the bungalow.
In a speaking order dated October 6, the K/West Ward office rejected the owners’ reply, submitted on September 15, citing the absence of documents authorising the construction or a copy of the requisite permissions from the authorities.
The notice instructed the owner or occupier to halt construction immediately and submit the necessary permissions within 24 hours. It also warned that failure to comply could result in the removal of the unauthorised structure and construction materials at the owner’s risk and expense, the official said.
On the work front, Ajay was last seen in the third instalment of Drishyam: The Conclusion.
