Coronation Street has confirmed the return of Owen Armstrong, with star Ian Puleston-Davies reprising his role after 11 years.
Owen, a mainstay of the eponymous Street for five years between 2010 and 2015, made a decision to leave the cobbles following the breakdown of his marriage to Anna Windass.
At the time of his departure, his business was also in ruin thanks to the work of twisted serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntryre).
But over a decade on, Owen stages a comeback – and he’s unhappy with Garry Windass (Mikey North), who is currently in prison for assisting Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) in the cover up of Theo Silverton’s murder.
On a mission to help Izzy and grandson Jake, Owen makes it clear that he holds Gary responsible for his family’s misfortune as he moves back to Weatherfield to look after them.
Ian Pulestone-Davies will be back on our screens in January as he begins filming for the big comeback next week.
‘I can’t wait to pick up where I left off ten years ago!,’ he said of his return to the cobbles.
‘It’s brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen’s back and he’s still angry!”
Coronation Street Producer Kate Brooks added: ‘We’re thrilled that Ian is back, and Owen brings a ton of drama.
‘As he joins forces with an unlikely alliance, he wreaks havoc on the Street, and his relationship with Gary is severely put to the test. Needless to say, there’s never a dull moment when Owen’s around.’
Be afraid Gary, be very afraid!
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 or stream first from 7am on ITVX and YouTube.
