Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) royally puts his foot in it in Emmerdale soon by accidentally revealing to Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) that he loves her.
Earlier this year, everything changed for Kammy when Belle learnt about his living arrangements.
The character was secretly homeless, and had set up camp in one of the barns on Emmerdale Farm. As a result of Kammy not wanting anyone to view him as ‘sad and alone’, he kept his situation a secret, but it resulted in him almost going to prison for arson.
Fortunately, Kammy recognised that Belle was someone that he could trust. He told her about the death of his father, and how he stole cars with his sister to try and earn money for the family.
Kammy got in trouble with the law during this period. Feeling as though he had failed his mum, he left home.
Belle told Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) about Kammy’s plight and together, they came up with a plan. Kammy now lives in a caravan outside of Wishing Well, and regularly visits to see everyone.
Life for Kammy and Belle is pretty sweet…which means something bad is waiting for them. It’s always the way in soap, isn’t it? We can never just have nice things.
Waiting for Belle in the not too distant future is the news that her abuser, Tom King (James Chase), is going to be released from prison.
When Belle’s Victim Liaison Officer visits, she reveals that Tom will be subjected to strict licence conditions when he gets out, which means he legally cannot go anywhere near her.
As Kammy’s worry grows, Belle discovers more information about Tom when Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) explains that he’s been speaking to him in his role as prison chaplain.
The local vicar says that Tom’s accepted culpability and wants to seek Belle’s forgiveness.
Her mind racing, Belle decides that the only way to deal with the issue is to visit Tom herself. Kammy and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) don’t agree, and Belle eventually takes their advice and decides to not got to the prison.
Later, after discovering what Belle is going through, Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) visits Cain and says that if Tom does come back, he could be more dangerous than ever.
Meanwhile, with his brain working overtime trying to figure out how to keep Belle safe, Kammy is a stressed lad. And when he’s under pressure, keeping his thoughts to himself isn’t exactly his strong suit…
Kammy blurts out that he loves Belle. Overwhelmed, she fails to respond and runs off.
Time and a place, Kammy, mate.
