MUSCAT, Oct 24: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has written to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), raising concerns over umpiring decisions during their Under-19 one-day international series in Muscat, including an alleged 11th over bowled by Afghanistan captain Sohail Khan.
Bangladesh U-19 head coach Hannan Sarkar said the team documented the disputed decisions in the captain’s report and submitted a separate note highlighting the over in question.According to ESPNcricinfo, Bangladesh’s team management held two lengthy discussions with match referee Yasir Latifzai, presenting video footage of lbw decisions they considered incorrect and evidence that Sohail had bowled 11 overs in the third Youth ODI, exceeding the permitted limit of 10 overs in a 50-over match. The over was officially credited to another Afghanistan bowler, Shah Faisal Rahimi. However, Bangladesh maintained that Sohail had bowled it and that the official scorer had mistakenly attributed it to a player who did not deliver the over.Sarkar said the team alerted the umpires immediately after the over was completed and subsequently provided footage to the match referee to explain the discrepancy.
