A 33-year-old businessman has died after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest with a broken bottle by his 19-year-old girlfriend during a heated disagreement at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
The deceased, identified as Enoch Abrokwa, died on October 14, 2026, five days after the incident, which occurred at his business premises on Friday, October 9.
His girlfriend, Emmanuella Asante, 19, has since been arrested and remanded in police custody in connection with the death.
According to the police, the disagreement between the two escalated into violence, leaving Mr. Abrokwa with severe chest injuries that affected his intestines.
He was rushed to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina for treatment but was later referred to the Greater-Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital), where he underwent emergency medical care. He died while receiving treatment.
A statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs of the Accra Regional Police Command, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, said the suspect was arrested on October 10, 2026 after she was brought to the police by the complainant and three others.
The statement said Emmanuella Asante allegedly admitted to stabbing the deceased and has since remained in police custody as investigations continue.
She was arraigned before a court and remanded into custody to reappear on November 3, 2026.
The Tesano Divisional Police Command has taken over investigations into the case.
Chief Supt. Obeng urged the public to cooperate with the police as investigations continue and the law takes its course.
