Karrueche Tran is starting to settle in with Deion Sanders.
The socialite girlfriend for the Colorado Buffaloes coach recently explained how she came up with his new nickname.
During the latest episode of her new podcast, "The Pop Exchange Show," Tran and co-host Jason Kennedy talked about life with Sanders. Coach Prime's prosthetic foot got brought into the conversation for more than one reason. It's no secret Sanders has been living the past five years with fewer digits on his feet compared to when he started his football journey as a player.
Sanders had his big toe and second toe on his left foot amputated in late 2021. This came after news surfaced about him needing an additional surgery. However, Sanders appears to be on the other side of a personal health battle. He also has new prosthetic toes.
Sanders was recently fitted for prosthetics while he takes his time getting used to it. This has been a process for the Hall of Famer, who carries a sense of optimism going forward. It seems like Tran has helped her man be the best he can be. There's also a lighthearted portion to their relationship with Sanders being affectionately called "Little Foot."
"I love that that's a part of our relationship, that we get to laugh and have fun," Tran said.
Sanders and Tran have been dating for over a year and a half. While his amputations came while Coach Prime was still with Tracey Edmonds, Tran seems to enjoy taking an active interest in Coach Prime's health journey and trying to make it better. Sanders shared last year that he had to undergo surgery to treat his bladder cancer.
Everything is good with Sanders now after a medical team worked to remove his bladder and created a new one from his intestines. Tran was right by his side in the hospital bed for support. The two have quietly soaked up the spotlight.
Sanders continues to lead Colorado in the midst of his fourth season in Boulder. While the results on the field haven't been good lately, Coach Prime can take a step forward in his personal journey. You can say this a new chapter in his life as a grandfather and cancer survivor.
Colorado is riding a four-game losing streak, which includes a 27-24 loss to No. 11 Utah on Saturday. The Buffs will now face the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
