MASJID TANAH: Barisan Nasional's (BN) Melaka election candidates have been finalised and could be announced at any time, says state BN chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
The Melaka chief minister said he would not take long to announce the candidates, with nomination day approaching.
"The entire list of candidates is ready. We will announce it soon... at any time," he said briefly after attending the Sembang Santai Geng E-Hailing dan P-Hailing programme in Kampung Pulau here tonight.
He also dismissed claims that BN's candidates would be announced on Oct 24.
"Who said that (Oct 24)? Ask the person who said it. It did not come from me."
Ab Rauf said BN's preparations were in the final stages, including negotiations with coalition partners to finalise cooperation and the distribution of seats to be contested.
In the 2021 Melaka election, BN won 21 of the 28 state seats contested, enabling it to form the state government on its own before Pakatan Harapan (PH) later joined the state administration.
Ab Rauf said the outcome of negotiations with coalition partners would also be announced ahead of nomination day.
"The outcome of the negotiations will be announced after the final round of talks in the near future," he said.
