Motorcyclist dies in Mandeville crash

MANCHESTER, Jamaica— A motorcyclist succumbed to injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Manchester Road in Mandeville on Saturday. He has been identified as Ranjunior Swaby, a resident of Top Greenvale near Mandeville. Preliminary reports are that about 2:40 am Swaby was driving a green Missile motorcycle on Manchester Road near the Mandeville town centre when it collided with a 2016 white Mercedes-Benz C43 motorcar. Swaby was flung from the motorcycle upon impact. He was pronounced dead at hospital. Statistics from the police show that up to 6:00 am Saturday there were 273 fatalities from 237 crashes on the nation’s roads. This compares to 312 fatalities from 272 crashes for the corresponding period in 2025. — Kasey Williams
