Bangladesh has extended the deadline for submitting bids under its Offshore Bidding Round 2026 by four months to 31 March 2027 from 30 November 2026, following requests from international oil companies (IOCs).
The government has also made data-sale packages for the bidding round more accessible to encourage participation, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources today (13 October).
The ministry said the decision followed recent discussions with several internationally renowned oil companies and their requests regarding the bidding process.
The extended deadline will give interested companies more time to assess available data and prepare their bids for offshore exploration, the ministry said.
It expects the deadline extension and improved access to data packages to boost international oil companies' interest in the bidding round.
The information was disclosed in the press release by Muhammad Arif Sadek, deputy chief information officer of the ministry.
