The Brooklyn Nets have signed, drafted, and traded for players from virtually every state in the US, and much of the wider world beyond the United States. From Alabama to Wyoming, and from Australia to Ukraine, the Nets have a long and distinguished history of turning over every stone to find the talent needed to succeed in the NBA.
From their start in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as the New Jersey Americans and New York Nets to their jump to the NBA as the New Jersey Nets right through to today, the organization has cast their net for talent wide since the inception of the ball club.
For this installment of our series documenting the provenience of every Nets player to suit up for the franchise, let's take a look at every player from Arkansas who has played for Brooklyn.
Our focus in this article is Joe Johnson. An alum of Central (Little Rock, Arkansas) high school, he was picked up with the 10th overall selection of the 2001 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics.
The Little Rock, Arkansas native played the first 48 games of his pro career with Boston Celtics before he was traded to the Phoenix Suns. He also played for the Atlanta Hawks before he was dealt to the Nets in 2012. His stay with the team lasted until he was cut in 2016.
