Babu opens up about his mother's sacrifice
Babu directed some of his most emotional words towards his mother, revealing that she sold chang'aa to put food on the table and fund his education following the death of his father.
He described how she would stay by his side late into the night to make sure he studied, carrying burdens he says he was too young to comprehend at the time.
"Mum, every step I take and every milestone I achieve carries a piece of your sacrifice. If I have come this far, it is because you refused to give up on me. I can never repay you for everything you have done. Wewe ni shujaa wangu," he wrote.
In an equally heartfelt note to his wife, Babu described Fridah as someone he had specifically asked God for. He credited her with providing him with peace and steadiness during difficult stretches of his life, and thanked her for being a wonderful mother to their children.
"You hold me when the world feels heavy and understand me even when others don't. You give me strength when I feel weak and peace when everything around me seems uncertain," he said.
He closed the message by extending the Mashujaa Day recognition beyond his own family, acknowledging ordinary Kenyans who quietly sacrifice their comfort and dreams to provide better lives for their loved ones.
"Some heroes wear uniforms. Others sacrifice their comfort, dreams and happiness to give their families a better life. Today, we honour you all," Babu added.
The post drew mixed reactions from followers.
Several commenters questioned the absence of his father from the tribute, while others noticed there appeared to be no photos of his mother in the post:
Nyar Soko Achingo:
"Happy Mashujaa day to you too."
Usawa Ni Sawa:
"What about your dad?"
Frank Richard:
"Bro you don't seem to have any pictures of your mum, why is that?"
Altrine Okello:
"Your father je?"
