Klimala, the 28-year-old Polish striker leading the attack for K League 1 front-runner FC Seoul, has won his first individual trophy of the season.
The Korea Professional Football League said on the 15th that Klimala had been named the EA Sports Player of the Month for September in the 2026 season. Nominated for the award for the first time, Klimala won it on his first try, securing his first individual title since joining the K League.
The September award covered rounds 27 through 30 of K League 1, as well as the rescheduled round 22 match between Gangwon FC and Incheon United. Klimala started all four of his matches during that stretch and scored three goals. He was especially decisive in the round 29 clash with Jeonbuk Hyundai, where a brace helped Seoul hold on to first place. With 14 goals on the season, he ranks second among the league's scorers and has become the focal point of Seoul's attack in the second half of the campaign.
The Player of the Month award is decided by a vote of the league's Technical Study Group technical committee, which carries 60% of the weight, along with a K League fan vote at 25% and a vote by users of EA Sports FC Online at 15%.
Four players competed for the September award: Lee Myung-jae of Daejeon, Lee Yu-hyeon of Gangwon, Italo of Jeju and Klimala of Seoul. Klimala finished with a combined 38.60 points, more than 11 points ahead of Italo's 27.55, to win comfortably.
Klimala receives a trophy and prize money, and will wear a Player of the Month patch on his jersey for the remainder of the season.
