By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 12 year old boy and his father are facing charges after police stopped the child riding a motorcycle in Guinea Grass Village on Monday morning.
Police say officers on mobile patrol around 8:50am on October 12 noticed a boy riding a red Lifan motorcycle on a street in the village and signalled him to stop.
When asked for his driver’s licence, the boy said he did not have it with him. When asked his age, he replied, “I 12.”
Officers took the boy home, where they met his father, a 32 year old mechanic. Both were taken to the Orange Walk Police Station along with the motorcycle.
The boy was charged with driving a motor vehicle not covered by third party risk insurance, driving an unlicensed motor vehicle and driving without a Belize driver’s licence.
His father was charged with permitting a person to drive without a permit.
Both were granted police bail to appear in the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, October 14.
