Jahdae Walker’s day ended early against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
The Chicago Bears wide receiver and special teamer teamer delivered a headbutt at the end of a fourth-quarter kickoff return and got ejected.
The incident took place on a kickoff after a Bears field goal that extended Chicago’s lead to 31-7. Words were exchanged in the aftermath of the kick return, and Walker delivered a headbutt to Falcons special teamer Chris Blair.

Blair didn’t retaliate and immediately rose his hand in protest to draw the attention of officials. Officials noticed, and flagged Walker for a personal foul and ejected him.

As far as headbutts go, this wasn’t egregious and certainly nothing like the one that saw 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw ejected last week and suspended after he head-butted a Seahawks opponent who wasn’t wearing a helmet.
Fox rules analyst Dean Blandino explained on the broadcast that headbutts don’t come with an automatic ejection. But officials saw enough from Walker to determine that his day was over.
Whether or not the NFL deems the headbutt worthy of a suspension is yet to be seen.
