Rob Lowe has transformed his clean cut image for his last role in Vaclav Marhoul's new film Confession. In the newly released trailer, Rob sports a disheveled look, complete with a distressed white vest, scruffy hair, longer facial hair, and glasses.
The official synopsis reads: "In Stalin’s 1938 Moscow, a disillusioned former literature professor, Alexei (Lowe), is arrested and brought to the infamous Lubyanka Prison, charged with conspiring with his dissident priest. There, Alexei faces interrogation by his brilliant and brutal former student, Vladimir (Franco). Forced to the ultimate test of betrayal or conscience, and confronted with his past sins, Alexei finds redemption through truth, sacrificing himself to save others in a haunting tale of morality and resistance."
The film, which has been written by Ben Shapiro, stars Rob alongside James Franco , Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Nick Nolte, Richard Brake, Emile Hirsch, Brad Dourif, and Dean Norris.

"This is an incredible story of the human spirit and its survival against those who would crush it," said Rob of the project. The film is set to world premiere at the Warsaw Film Festival on October 15. It will be released in 100 theaters stateside for one night on November 11 before being available to stream on The Daily Wire.
HELLO!'s TV & Film Editor, Nicky Morris, shared her expert insight on the new movie. "Rob Lowe, James Franco, Jennifer Jason Leigh lead the cast of Ben Shaprio's upcoming prison drama, which is perhaps Daily Wire's most star-studded project to date. The conservative media company continues to expand into the world of filmmaking, with Confession closely following September's Run Hide Fight: Infidels," she said.

Rob shares two sons, Matthew and John, with his wife, Sheryl Berkoff. In June 2024, Rob opened up to People about the "beauty of fatherhood". "You get to experience their wonder and awe, and all of those amazing things," he said. “Then they become young adults and adults, and to be able to guide them or be a part of decisions that are much more – I don’t want to say important, but important, you know? First houses, significant others, jobs. With all of that stuff, the stakes are way higher. It makes me glad to be around to give my two cents for what it’s worth," he shared.
