Between March 2024 and January 2025, the Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) unit worked with policing partners across Canada to investigate an online drug distribution ring operating under the brand BlueBuddhaCo, EPS said in a Monday news release.
The organization was operating on a national scale, shipping approximately 8,700 packages of drugs across Canada while laundering proceeds through banking systems and cryptocurrency platforms. They advertised themselves as an online illicit drug delivery service, promoting fast and secure nationwide shipping for a wide selection of controlled substances, including cocaine, MDMA, LSD, GHB, and methamphetamine.

EDGE executed search warrants in January 2025 that revealed multiple storage and distribution locations in Edmonton. Police located controlled substances with an estimated street value of $224,000, as well as drug-processing and packaging equipment, digital scales, and shipping supplies.
Police estimate that the organization received around $1.98 million through e‑transfer deposits.
“This investigation exposed a well-organized criminal enterprise that distributed controlled substances across Canada while attempting to conceal millions of dollars in criminal proceeds,” said Staff Sgt. Jennifer McCann, with the EDGE Unit, in the release. “The complexity of this operation demanded a sustained, intelligence-led investigation involving extensive financial analysis, digital evidence and interagency collaboration.”
In February 2026, EDGE has charged Melvin Yong, 33, Dung Nguyen, 66, Gary Tan, 43, Mila Then, 35, Kevin Leung-Wan, 33, and Kelly Wong, 32, with a total of 139 criminal offences, including organized crime, trafficking, money laundering and proceeds of crime.
Police ask that anyone with information about this or any other crime contact the EPS at 780-423-4567. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
