The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) says eradicating poverty requires creating equal opportunities for everyone.
On Saturday, October 17, on the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, UNESCO said that education, science and the creative economy can expand people’s access to knowledge, skills and employment opportunities.
UNESCO stressed that it is working to build a future in which everyone can live with human dignity and no one is deprived of opportunities to advance.
The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is observed every year on October 17.
The origins of this day date back to 1987, when more than 100,000 people gathered in Paris and declared poverty a violation of human rights.
By observing this day, the United Nations emphasizes the fight against poverty and the need for global solidarity to ensure human rights and dignity.
