Jantar Mantar Protest Ban: Ramlila Maidan Occupied, Shahdara Ground Costly, Burari Unfit?
Delhi Police has denotified Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site, directing demonstrations to three alternative locations: Ramlila Maidan, the CBD ground in Shahdara, and the Burari ground. A ground check reveals that Ramlila Maidan, the sole centrally located option, is currently occupied with events. Meanwhile, the 12-acre DDA land at Shahdara sits 12 kilometres away, lacking boundary walls and lighting while plagued by waste dumps and stench. Booking the ground costs 1.27 lakh rupees per day alongside a 1.91 lakh rupee security deposit. In Burari, buffalos graze across the 59-acre plot situated far from power corridors, raising questions over the suitability of these venues.
