Joe Manganiello’s new memoir, Bloodlines, has sparked a whole new wave of drama nearly three years after his divorce from Sofía Vergara. As Joe continues to promote the book (which details his quiet battle with a near-fatal autoimmune disease), the lines in his post-split narrative seem to be a little blurry.
While speaking about the downfall of their relationship during an October 14 interview on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Joe admitted he thinks the marriage could have “possibly” survived if he had been “in better health.”
The True Blood alum later added, “I sometimes see pictures of the two of us when we first got together, and, you know, it’s heartbreaking when you look at these two people with life ahead of them. But for us, we didn’t know what was ahead. And…I felt guilty for a long time.”
When Andy asked if he’s recently talked to Sofía about his guilt, Joe admitted he hasn’t “talked to her since” their divorce.
However, Joe seemed to contradict himself about when they last contacted each other as Andy asked if he “had heard from her in any way” after publishing Bloodlines. “I have,” Joe said, confirming that he didn’t send her a copy.
So…what is the truth?

Sofía, her son Manolo, and Joe in 2024.
It’s unclear, but he reportedly reignited drama in his and Sofía’s divorce after he claimed their marriage had “become devoid of any emotionality whatsoever” in his book. Elsewhere in his memoir, he alleged that the Modern Family alum “refused” to show affection and “made fun of his pet Chihuahua,” Bubbles, who he adopted when he considered ending his own life amid his health issues.
The drama picked up earlier this month when Sofía’s son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, shared an Instagram Story about narcissistic men that Sofía reshared, prompting speculation that it was aimed at Joe.
“Remember kids, when dealing with a narcissist, it doesn’t matter how much you do for them, because they will resent you for it and nothing will ever be enough, and they’ll always somehow try to paint you as the bad guy,” Manolo wrote alongside the post.

Joe addressed the post during an interview with Gayle King for CBS Mornings on October 12, where he said, “Well, I think anybody who said that should read the book first and understand what the book is actually about because it’s not about that. It’s about the suffering I went through.”
He emphasized that Bloodlines “isn’t about his marriage,” adding, “The trauma and the pain affected everyone in my life, including me, in ways that you can’t predict, and it was tough.”
Sofía has yet to publicly respond to the memoir’s specific claims.
