IMPHAL, Oct 18 : Several houses and other structures belonging to Naga families were burnt down by Kuki militants at Skipe village located close to India- Myanmar border in Kamjong district under Chassad police station.
Sources said that heavily Kuki armed militants intruded into India from Myanmar and attacked Pilong and Skipe Naga villages with bombs and bullets early this morning.
Later they burned down more than 20 houses and other structures at Skipe village. Most of the residents of the two villages had already fled following a similar attack on September 24, 2026 in which four innocent Naga villagers were killed by Kuki militants.
There was no report of any casualty on the side of Naga villagers in today’s attack.
Speaking over phone, Chingsongam, village chief of Skipe, said that they have been demanding to open a security post in the village but the Government has not been listening to their demand.
Moreover, Assam Rifles deployed in the nearby area have also failed to protect citizens’ lives and properties, he added.
