Royals

Back in August, British Vogue drew up a handy shopping list of the British brands we might expect to see Meghan Markle wearing on her return to the United Kingdom. Judging by her recent appearances, however, she needed no such guidance.
Photographed today visiting The Community Recording Studio in Nottingham – where she and Harry made their first royal appearance after announcing their engagement in 2017 – Meghan opted for a polished take on autumnal dressing in a burgundy double-face cashmere coat and matching knit from Joseph, paired with Jennifer Chamandi heels. The British high street, it seems, is proving a reliable source for Meghan’s evolving wardrobe. Just yesterday, the Duchess was spotted in London wearing a blazer and jeans from Marks & Spencer, having stepped out earlier in the week in Boden trousers for dinner with Malala Yousafzai.

On that first visit to Nottingham, Meghan’s Strathberry bag and Mackage coat (brands stocked in, say, Harrods) sold out within minutes – a response that, she later told The New York Times, made her more conscious of the attention her clothes attracted and the significance they conveyed. And now? Well, what better way to reacquaint herself with the great British public than by shopping on the same high street?
