PETALING JAYA: DAP's Pending assemblyman Violet Yong was ordered out of the Sarawak assembly today, leaving the state legislature without a single opposition representative.
Yong, however, said she was only barred for a day and would return for the final day of this session's sitting tomorrow, Borneo Post reported.
The Sarawak DAP secretary was ordered to leave the house this morning after refusing to withdraw her description on Monday of state transport minister Lee Kim Shin as a "political coward".
Speaker Asfia Awang Nassar today ruled that the remark was "unparliamentary" and "humiliating", and ordered that it be expunged from the Hansard after Lee complained that Yong had directed insulting words at him.
Yong continued speaking while her microphone was muted, prompting the speaker to boot her out from the state assembly.
Yong had called Lee a "political coward" for criticising suspended Padungan assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen in his absence.
Chong, the Sarawak DAP chief, had earlier been suspended from the state legislature for the remainder of the session.
