Oregon State freshman phenom Jesse Legree has announced on a YouTube stream that he will remain with the Beavers for the significant future.
Less than a week ago, Legree's father, Jeffery, announced a "decision day," was scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23. It was later to be revealed to be a YouTube livestream.
In front of a backdrop with the logo of St. Frances Academy, Legree's former high school in Baltimore, Legree took questions from CBS' Chris Hassel and Danny Kanell to start of the event. About three minutes into the livestream on CBS Sports College Football's YouTube page Oct. 23, Legree made his announcement.
"I here will be re-signing to the Oregon State Beavers for the 2027 through 2028 season," Legree said.
An eruption from fans broke Legree into a wide smile.
Legree then discussed his relationship with OSU head coach JaMarcus Shephard and his reasoning behind the decision.
"He's like another father to me," Legree said of Shephard. "He always makes sure I'm good mentally. He always wants to give me tips and tricks, because you know he's a wide receiver as a head coach, so to have somebody as a head coach with his resume and his knowledge has just been great."
When asked why now for this decision, Legree gave a message Beavers fans around the country will enjoy hearing.
"To start the growth at Oregon State, hopefully to bring in more people, more recruits and even more transfers to help us out," Legree said. "I just know that coach Shep is going to go grow this organization to something different in the next couple years."
