The BJP's women's wing on Monday marched towards the Congress headquarters in Delhi, demanding action against party MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam following his dismissal from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) over sexual harassment allegations.

In a post on X, the BJP's Delhi unit questioned Rahul Gandhi's silence on the issue, asking when he would speak up for women's dignity and accept responsibility for ensuring justice for the complainants.

It also questioned Rahul Gandhi's claims of championing women's rights and “smashing patriarchy”.
“Does Rahul Gandhi, who keeps talking about ‘smashing the patriarchy’, not see the pain of these young women?” the party asked.
The march, led by BJP Mahila Morcha national president Rup Kumari Choudhary and Mahila Morcha in-charge Daggubati Purandeswari, began from Andhra Education Society School on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg.
AKOIJAM DISMISSED FROM JNU, COPS REGISTER CASE
Akoijam, a professor at the Centre for the Study of Social Systems under JNU's School of Social Sciences, was dismissed with immediate effect on October 9 following an internal enquiry into allegations of sexual harassment.
The university's Internal Complaints Committee found allegations of “sex for marks” and harassment to be substantiated, according to the BJP's account.
Akoijam has rejected the allegations and termed his dismissal a “witch hunt”, claiming he was not given an opportunity to respond to the committee's findings.
Delhi Police on Monday registered a case against the Congress MP based on a complaint lodged by the JNU administration. Police officials said provisions relating to offences against women had been invoked.
The FIR includes Section 75, concerning sexual harassment, including unwelcome physical contact and advances and sexually coloured remarks, as well as Section 79, relating to insulting the modesty of a woman.
According to reports, at least 11 women students filed sexual harassment complaints against Akoijam in May.
The complainants alleged that he invited students to his campus residence under the pretext of meetings or gatherings and attempted to sexually harass them.
Some also accused him of making obscene and inappropriate remarks in class.
Akoijam has denied the allegations and challenged the process that led to his dismissal.
