Mini-marathon brings police and public together

A five kilometre mini-marathon from the Armed Reserve Police Grounds organised by the “Namma Madurai.... Namma Police” brought in the public and the police together on Sunday.

Flagging off the run, Superintendent of Police Devanathan said that he was excited to see many youngsters joining the run voluntarily.

In a bid to bring in a friendly environment between the police and the public, the marathon was being organised. This was an opportunity to know each other and helps a new beginning to understand the benefits of togetherness.

The participants, who ran from the AR Grounds, took through the main thoroughfare and reached the starting point via Iyer Bungalow. Traffic was diverted at some points between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. The participants were provided with water, fruits and energy drink by the organisers.

The participants, who were in different categories, were awarded with prizes. The winners from the children, men, women and senior citizens (walkathon) category were all appreciated and certificates presented.
