BANGI: The Communications Ministry will collaborate with the Global Sumud Movement to produce a television mini-series on the "Sumud Protocol" to raise public awareness, said Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
He said the production was among several initiatives through which the government would support the efforts of Sumud Nusantara and the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF).
Fahmi said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's presence at the Sumud Nusantara Dinner tonight sent a clear signal that Malaysia's support for Palestinian liberation went beyond political rhetoric and diplomatic discussions.
"The prime minister's presence tonight sends a very clear signal that this is not merely political rhetoric, nor just what is discussed at diplomatic tables, but is actually driven through support, patronage and mass movements like the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF).
"We (the government) also hope that, if there are any plans by Sumud Nusantara and GSF, we are ready to help," he told reporters after attending the dinner, held in conjunction with the 2026 World Sumud Congress here today.
He said Anwar was among world leaders who had been most outspoken in expressing Malaysia's position on the need to liberate Palestine and establish an independent Palestinian state.
Fahmi also congratulated Malaysian Islamic Consultative Council (MAPIM) chief executive officer Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby for leading and organising various initiatives, which he described as significant.
He added that he and several other ministers would continue supporting Sumud Nusantara and GSF, including through social media assistance.
"We are ready to help. This includes looking at it from the perspective of social media, so this is among several things that the Communications Ministry itself will assist with," he said.
Also present were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin.
