The First Lady of Zamfara state, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has commended women farmers in the state for their pivotal role in ensuring food security and driving agricultural development.
She gave the commendation Monday at the World Food Day celebration organised by the Nigerian Association of Women in Agriculture (NAWIA), Zamfara state chapter, held at the Trade Fair Complex, Gusau.
Hajiya Lawal said the celebration offered a unique opportunity to reflect on the vital role of agriculture in ensuring food security, fostering sustainable development and improving livelihoods.
She described the impressive display of agricultural produce and the active participation of women at the event as a clear testimony of collective resolve and commitment to agricultural growth, economic empowerment and the attainment of a food-secure Zamfara state.
She specially commended the state coordinator of NAWIA, Hajiya Shemau Nalado, for her exemplary leadership, dedication and tireless efforts in empowering women and advancing agricultural development across the state.
She also lauded her husband and governor of Zamfara state, Dr. Dauda Lawal, for his administration’s steadfast and consistent support for farmers through agricultural grants, timely distribution of fertiliser and other strategic interventions aimed at boosting food production and enhancing productivity.
